LABtrio. The confrontation of these three different young personalities, three different backgrounds, is what the music of LABtrio is all about. The chemistry that is typical for LABtrio has been going on for four years and is in constant evolution. As they are growing individually and getting more experienced, the interaction between the musicians is getting stronger and more and more dynamic. LABtrio creates a musical laboratory where influences of Jazz, improvisation, Hip-Hop and electronic music are mixed and the collective is the centre.
Over the last four years they created a rich repertoire of twisted jazz standards and own compositions. With that urban-influenced Jazz, Jazz flirting with underground cultures, LABtrio tries incessantly to surprise themselves, each other and the audience.
LABtrio consists of three dynamic young musicians:
Bram De Looze (°1991) a talented piano player, had lessons of Ron Van Rossum for two years in the Lemmens Institute.
Anneleen Boehme (°1989) one of Belgium's rare female acoustic basstalents, has a classical background and studied in the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and the conservatory of Antwerp with Nicolas Thys.
Lander Gyselinck (°1987), an interesting upcoming drummer in the Belgian Jazz and Improvised Music scene, has completed his masters degree with Stéphane Galland at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
LABtrio is aiming for a unique group sound and doesn't hesitate to go in the direction the evolution is leading them. The trio started playing in 2007 and won several contests such as Dexia Classics and last year, Brussels Jazz Marathon with the award for Best Group, award of the audience and awards for best soloist to Bram De Looze and Lander Gyselinck. In July 2009 they performed at the Jamboree Jazz Club in Barcelona. They have been selected for the concours of the festival Tremplin Jazz d'Avignon.
